HADIK COFFEE HOUSE

Hadik Coffee House is one of the legendary grand cafés of Budapest, which was restored to its original splendor in recent years. The café originally opened in 1911 and it became popular soon. Famous writers and journalists visited the place and some of them like Karinthy, Móricz and Kosztolányi (famous writers) became regulars here. Even the Oscar winner director László Nemes Jeles wrote the screenplay for Son of Saul in Hadik. In the basement of the Hadik café the Szatyor bar and gallery is located, which name is originating from Karinthy.

Modern and classical: Hadik and Szatyor. The classical Hadik represents the old coffee houses’ spirit with its furniture and decoration and whilst the Szatyor is the centre of modernity with it’s amazing interior design and art works. Over the past ten years, they have organized hundreds of cultural events, exhibitions, concerts, conferences, book fairs, book launches and literature classes. Their mission is to preserve and carry forward the coffee house culture and tradition.
