Cucchiaino – Mátyás Sirokai, Orsolya Vágner and Verus Klausz IN ITALY
What happens when an everyday gesture becomes choreography? And when sound emerges from the most ordinary objects, transforming a familiar space into a place of shared creation?
The performance project “Cucchiaino” that the musician Mátyás Sirokai together with the performers Orsolya Vágner and Verus Klausz presented in Rome on the occasion of the project CAFE: Redefining Café Houses as Unique European Cultural Heritage is born from the encounter between music, contemporary dance and public participation, exploring the thin border between everyday life and artistic action.
In the spaces of Casale dei Cedrati cafeteria in full swing, Mátyás Sirokai built rhythmic landscapes using simple glass cups, while the two performers Orsolya Vágner and Verus Klausz initially acted as regular waiters distributing coffee spoons to attendees, then gradually transformed the service into dance, the functional gesture in choreographic expression, inviting the audience to take part in a collective composition born from listening, observation and sharing space.
Coffee has thus transformed into an open performance device, where hierarchies between artist and audience dissolved and the aesthetic experience emerged from common relationships, bodies and rhythms.
