EU Café International training program 2026 in Budapest

As part of a full-week training invited café house operators explored the framework of cultural ecosystems, focusing particularly on coffee houses and the challenges they face in the 21st century. Through five training sessions and three site visits, participants examined coffee houses as vital spaces of European cultural heritage and creativity. The program aimed to revitalise café culture through artistic and cultural collaborations, promote innovation within the Cultural and Creative Sectors, and explored how coffee houses can adapt to contemporary social, economic, and environmental challenges while preserving their cultural significance. The role of coffee houses is constantly changing. However, due to different coffee and cultural consumption trends, there has been a more remarkable change in the last 10 years, including in the Budapest scene.

The training venue was the Hadik House, a vibrant café and cultural space with an immense historical background, located in the 11th district of Budapest. It is familiar with the challenges of operating such a venue and acts as a good
example.
