On 23 July 2026, the Maks Bookstore & Café hosted a unique artistic encounter as part of the international CAFE project, bringing together Romanian painter Ramon Grosos and pianist Botond Szőcs.

During the morning event, Grosos created a painting live in front of the audience, while Szőcs accompanied the creative process with piano music. The two art forms entered into a spontaneous dialogue: the colours, gestures and rhythms of the painting responded to the atmosphere shaped by the music.

A particularly meaningful moment emerged when the completed painting unexpectedly revealed the form of a rose—the symbol of Nova Gorica. Although the artist had not consciously intended to depict it, the rose appeared almost as an unconscious response to the city, its identity and the atmosphere of the gathering.

Over a cup of coffee, visitors witnessed how music, visual art and place could merge into a shared artistic story. The event reflected the central idea of the CAFE project: the café as a space of creativity, encounter and cultural exchange, where new meanings and unexpected connections can emerge.
